Shoe Worship

....so this weekend was an adventure in my quest for the perfect nude peep-toe pump.
I came across this enticing little pair, but alas the Italian patent pump from Hollywould was not available in my size.

Hollywould Sand Ida Peeptoe, $450.

In my search for something comparable nothing came close. However, I did find these lace up leather sling back platform sandals at Nine West.
Alista, on sale for $99 at Nine West.

C'mon guys, let’s face it...

Some guys are good at grooming, and some…well, need a little advice in that category. Even if you’re a “manly” man and pride yourself on that oh-so-sexy rugged look, it doesn’t give you free reign to let yourself go without regular grooming! For those men that could use a little tutorial on quick and easy grooming, Shawn Cornacchio, ACE’s grooming guru and Master Barber at Paul Labrecque’s exclusive Gentlemen’s Salon, has compiled a list of the most important grooming DOs and DON’Ts for men of all ages.

We asked for grooming DOs and DON’Ts from ACE’s Grooming Expert:

DO shave while you’re in the shower. With no dirt between the skin and hair, the shower is the best place for a clean, close shave. Not only does it make it easier for the razor to lift hair off the face for a smooth shave, the steam soothes the skin and reduces irritation. Not to mention, there’s no clean-up involved! Shawn suggests shaving in the shower with the ACE Fogless Shower Mirror (SRP $15.99).

DON’T forget about small details when trimming! While many men feel like they’ve mastered the art of shaving, it’s easy to forget about little details like shaping sideburns and trimming ear and nose hair. Shawn’s recommendations for keeping pesky, hard-to-reach hair at bay are the ACE Dual Action Trimmer (SRP $21.99) and Detail Facial Scissors (SRP $10.99).

DO keep fingernails clean and groomed. Believe it or not, women pay a lot of attention to a man’s hands and nothing’s less attractive than dirty, un-cut fingernails. Shawn keeps nails clean-cut with the ACE Nail Brush (SRP $6.99) and Fingernail Clipper (SRP $6.99).

DO groom your eyebrows. You may look at your girlfriend’s tweezers and get a little freaked out, but there is absolutely nothing sexy about a unibrow. Shawn recommends steering clear of wax (which will give you those fake and unnatural-looking arches) and keeping tweezers like the man-sized ACE Dual Action Tweezer (SRP $7.99) handy for plucking stray hairs and taming the unibrow beast.

Accessorize your skin this Spring!

With summer approaching and the colors on the runway getting brighter, it is time to put a glow to your skin and forget about the long, dreary winter months. Since we know all the harmful effects of tanning beds and prolonged sun exposure, the only safe option is self-tanner.

“Now it is easier to apply and more natural-looking than ever with new formulations and new ingredients such as cocoa found in Clarins Delicious Self Tanner,” says Kara Peterson, Clarins National Practical Training Manager for the Clarins Skin Spas. Kara gives us some at-home tips on how to turn into a bronzed goddess based on Clarins Skin Spa’s best selling body treatment: Sun Kissed Self Tanner. Being the crème de la crème of self-tanning treatments for the face and body, this 60-minute treatment includes a deeply pampering massage and long-lasting colour.

1 Prep is the first step.
Kara says prepping your skin is the most important step to creating a streak free tan. She first uses Clarins Smoothing Body Scrub to exfoliate the whole body and recommends shaving the day before your application. Be sure to concentrate your exfoliation on the body’s drier areas including elbows, knees, ankles and feet. To further prevent any uneven color you can also apply a light moisturizer over these areas before you begin.

2 Focus. Focus. Focus.
When you are ready to apply your self tanner, think about where the sun naturally hits your body. These are the parts you want to begin with and focus most of your attention on. Move to the other parts using the leftover product in your hands. For example, on the legs Kara starts in the middle of the calf muscle and then works out using a quick massage movement.

3 Correct to perfect.
Once the color fully develops and you find you have missed a spot, correct it with a tinted self-tanner, so you know where you are applying color.

4 Give me more.
If the first application doesn’t give you the results you want, Kara recommends waiting until the next day to do another coat. If you wait more than three days, exfoliate again to create a smooth surface for the tanner to glide over.
